Diesel Mechanic noun. mechanic that understands hard-working vehicles' (buses, large trucks, boats, bulldozers, dump trucks, cranes, etc.) electrical system, engine, and all of its working parts.
the program
DTC provides this 2-year program for training in the basic fundamentals of diesel mechanic operations. This includes engine tune-up, repair, service, and troubleshooting on medium/heavy duty trucks, among other equipment. Successful students go on to become experts in their desired, specialized, and very lucrative fields. Some students opt to take the 1-year Diesel Technician program. Job placement assistance is provided.
